Situated between the Old Town and Kazimierz, the Free Hostel is best summed up in the words of its guests who leave their comments on the hostel’s electronic guest book: "clean", "well located" and "friendly staff", are typical comments, but perhaps the best entry comes from a Polish visitor, "hotel jest super bombowy".
If Polish slang isn’t your first language, that’s Polish for saying, the hostel is very good!
Any visitor who gets hungry late at night is well catered for, just below the hostel is a pizzeria serving perhaps the best pizzas in Krakow. Those who want to save money and go local may wish to head to the "bar mleczny", or milk bar in English, which is….just across the road.
Being very near a junction also makes the hostel within easy reach of tram stops – a useful plus if you have to get to the train station with some heavy luggage.
The kitchen area is quite large – it has a microwave, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The common room area has a TV and a selection of DVDs. Rooms are a mixture of dorms, private rooms with en-suite bathroom and private rooms with kitchen and bathroom.
The hostel comes complete with social conscience, they are usually involved in trying to raise money for local causes and/or international charities – please ask for details. If this hostel is busy, the nearest one would probably be the Good Bye Lenin Hostel.
