(EN) Portofino makes an interesting departure from most restaurants in Kazimierz if not Krakow. Despite its name, its style is more like a chic European café, not too many restaurants have a set of bar stools where you can bury yourself in a newspaper or book, espresso to hand.

Being under the same ownership as Vinci, the food follows the Mediterranean theme with the menu being overseen by the same French chef (Frank Hervet). Polish food is also served for those who want to try something more traditional, such as Zurek soup.

The owner claims that visitors from outside of Krakow who come to his restaurant on Thursday keep returning until they leave on Sunday. The restaurant certainly has its own particular charm. If you’re looking for something with a bit more elegance then Portofino should fit the bill.
