First impressions always last…and our first impression of Kuchnia & Wino was the most gorgeous smell coming from the kitchen, whatever it was that was being cooked it certainly stimulated the senses.
Kuchnia & Wino have gone for Mediterranean cuisine with décor to match. They’d be the first to admit that they haven’t got a menu that encapsulates every style of Mediterranean cooking or that their
menu is particularly wide-ranging, what they do emphasise is good quality in what they do, so much so that the restaurant has won awards from the Polish version of Newsweek.
As an example of their quality not quantity approach, Kuchnia & Wino’s ravioli is handmade on a daily basis in their very own kitchen and it’s probably one of the few restaurants that can honestly claim to live up to the “handmade fresh today” statement – a slight irony given that they actually don’t advertise the fact.
Seafood is also available here from Wednesday evening until Saturday. The restaurant was one of the first in Kazimierz to introduce mussels onto its menu and although the restaurant has their own recipe, the seafood (like other dishes) can be cooked according to the instructions of guests. In fact the restaurant claims they’ll cook anything for anyone in a style of their choosing as long as the request is within the bounds of normality!
As you’d expect you can also try pasta, meat and fish dishes at the restaurant. All of this is supplemented with suitably chosen wines that complement the food.
If Mediterranean food is your thing (similar restaurants are the nearby Pepe Rosso or slightly further afield Vinci) it’s worth popping in. Kuchnia & Wino’s approach to its clientele is one of relaxed informality, the service is unobtrusive, you won’t see anyone wearing a uniform or standing to attention, but it is a place where you will get warm and friendly service with good food to match.
